Sugar Bush Fair Slow and Easy Bike Ride Saturday 20 March 2010 at 9:00 AM
We will ride around Schaumburg and over to Spring Valley for a pancake breakfast at the Sugar Bush Fair.
Traditionally our club president leads this short, easy, bike ride to officially open our clubs bicycling season. We start at the Schaumburg Clock Tower then do short bike ride around town on some low traffic streets over to Spring Valley Nature Center where the park district is hosting its annual Sugar Bush (maple syrup) Fest and Pancake Breakfast. The Pancake breakfast is $5, and is optional. You do not have to eat, and can just do the bike ride to Spring Valley with our club.
Bring a bicycle lock (to lock-up at Spring Valley). They do-not allow bicycling inside the Spring Valley Nature Center. It is about a 1-mile walk around the nature center. There is an operating 1890's farm (with animals), a log-cabin, and Maple Syrup production demonstrations to visit.
Note: The Parking lots at Spring Valley fill quickly for this event, so if you plan on just joining us at Spring Valley for the Breakfast you may need to park in a distant lot and walk. There is a shuttle bus that runs constantly from Olympic Park to Spring Valley for this event.
Ride Distance: 10 Miles. Ride Pace: Slow 8 to 12 MPH. Trail Type: Paved Streets
Bike Ride Start Location: Parking Lot behind the Schaumburg Clock Tower at Intersection of Roselle and Schaumburg Roads
=============== Note: The time 9:00 AM is when we start peddling. Please arrive about 15 Minutes before this to check-in and prepare for the bike ride. ===============
