Hackmatack Ride
August 24, 2013
8:30am

Join me on a ride to the newly designated Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge.
We'll start from the north side of Sternes Woods park in Crystal Lake and ride
north on the Prairie Trail. We'll meet Roger and King returning from their
overnight camping trip somewhere around Ringwood or Glacial Park. We'll start a
little earlier because the trail has little shade and it will be a warm day

Starting Location:
To get to the parking lot take Northwest Highway/US14 towards Crystal Lake.
Turn right on Pingree Road (may also be labeled Terra Cotta) after crossing the
Rt 31 overpass. Just a little bit less than 3 miles, make a left on Hillside.
Cross the railroad tracks and park in the lot on the left. There is a vault
toilet and water. Use 5320 Hillside, Crystal Lake 60012 for GPS. Google says
about 45 minutes from Schaumburg

Distance: 20-25 miles
Average Speed: 10-13
Leader: Wayne Heinmiller (heinmiller.il@prodigy.net)
