McHenry Prairie Trail - North - Crystal Lake to Ri
August 23, 2014
9am

We will ride North on the McHenry Prairie Bicycle Trail from Crystal Lake to Richmond and back. This is a paved trail so any bike will work. This trail runs north-south next to a set of Metra railroad line train tracks. There are small rolling hills and wonderful views of open land on this trail.

If 30 miles is too long, it is an up and back, so you can do as many as you like. We can stop for lunch in Richmond if the group would like. In the past we have had wonderful burgers at a bar in Richmond. Remember plenty of water as it's supposed to be warmer on Saturday

Starting Location:
Take Barrington Road North to Algonquin Road (Route 62)

Go northwest (left turn) on Algonquin Road (route 62) head to the town of Algonquin.

In Algonquin (right turn) go north on Route 31 and drive to Crystal Lake.

On the North side of Crystal Lake turn West (left turn) on E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176)

Go about 1/2 mile to Terra Cotta Road.

Turn North (Right turn) on Terra Cotta Road and go about 1 mile to E. Hillside Road.

Turn West (left) on Hillside, cross over the railroad tracks and bike-trail. The parking lot is right there next to the tracks.
