St. Charles to Sycamore
September 13, 2014
9am

This is a very flat, straight trail. It was an old railroad line. It is mostly open farmland. Very peaceful. Most of the trail is limestone, but there is a small part of it that is paved. There aren't bathrooms on the trail, but there are at the starting location. Make sure you have enough water as there isn't anywhere to get water once we are on the trail either. Once we get to Sycamore we will get lunch somewhere in town

Starting Location:
across the street from Leroy Oaks which is where the Great Western trailhead is located.

Directions: From Schaumburg you can take Route 59 south to North Avenue (route 64). Take Route 64 west (through St. Charles) to Randall Road (by the fair grounds). Go north on Randall Road (right turn) about 1/2 mile to Dean Street. Go west (left) on Dean Street about a half mile to the park. Leroy Oaks will be on the north side and the Great Western Trailhead is on the left side. There may not be enough parking available by the trailhead, so park by Leroy Oaks and go across the street to the start of the trailhead

Distance: 34 miles
Average Speed: 10-13
Leader: Lynn Caldarola (pldms@aol.com)
