CANCELED: Apple Cider & Donut ride
October 4, 2014
9am

CANCELED DUE TO PRECIPITATION

We will bicycle the Hebron Trail (limestone) and a few roads to the Royal Oak Farm Orchard for their apple cider, donuts and other treats. Our route is though rural farmland near the State Line. There may be a small fee ($1) to enter the Orchard. Bring a bicycle lock and $$ for snacks. Fruit picking is allowed (fee charged), and there is a restaurant and bakery. There is also a gift shop to browse. This is a straight line east-west bicycle route that is easy to follow, so we may break into small ride groups.

There could be good fall colors on this ride. There are some good vistas along the route.

This is the area of the Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge. Lots of birds are migrating through the area. There could be opportunities to see some interesting birds. One trip we saw a field filed with sandhill cranes

Starting Location:
Hebron Trail Parking Lot on Keystone Road in Richmond, IL

Distance: 20 miles
Average Speed: 10-12
