Cal-Sag Trail ride, Sat. Sept 8th at 9:30
September 8, 2018
9:30 am

If we're lucky enough to have decent weather on Saturday, Sept. 1st, I will lead a ride along the Cal-Sag Trail, which travels alongside the Cal-Sag Canal, starting in Lemont and riding to Alsip and back (26 miles). We will meet at 9:15, to begin riding at 9:30. There is a port-a-potty at that trailhead. The trail is new, well-paved and mostly shaded. We will stop for a couple of breaks, one of which will be Lake Katherine Nature Center, after 16 miles of riding--a good spot for an extended break with whatever snacks you want to bring.

Attached is a description of the Trail and amenities.

Important details:

Approximately 40 minutes' drive from Schaumburg.

Use your GPS for Sag Quarries, Lemont. (If your GPS doesn't show Sag Quarries, try Meno Stone Co. at 10800 IL-83 Lemont)..which is just west of the Sag Quarries entrance. At Meno Stone, you'll be on west side of IL-83, and you'll need to cross over to east side to meet up with us..)

Bring water, sun tan lotion (??? if we're lucky!!!), mosquito spray, etc, to be covered for most situations.

My GPS for Sag Quarries says:

I-290 to Route 83 south. Approx. 17 miles south. Immediate left after the second blue bridge. (A landmark on your right is the red brick Meno Stone building. If you go too far south and are at Route 171, you can turn right, then right again and the Sag Quarries will be straight ahead.)

If I need to cancel, I'll do that by 8:00 am.

My cell phone is: 224-676-8027.
