Hey SBCers: Join me this Saturday for a two part ride along parts of both sections of the North Branch Trail System. Hopefully the trees will not be bare after all our rain and wind and we will be able to enjoy the fall colors. Our meeting point will be in the parking lot for Harms Woods(Groves 5 & 6) at 9:00 a.m. to get your bike ready to ride. The lot entrance is located on Harms Rd. just north of Golf Rd. Take Golf Rd. east to Harms Rd., turn north (left) onto Harms Rd.and at the first light (Old Orchard Rd.) turn left into the parking lot where we will meet. We will start by riding south on the trail at 9:15 a.m. but will turn around just short of Touhy Avenue and head back to the parking lot. This section is approximately 10 miles. This should put us back at the parking lot for Harms Woods around 10:15 (or so). We will have a short break during which time any riders wanting to ride only the north section will have a chance to sign in. Then we will start heading north on the trail. Total ride distance of this section will be around 18 miles. There is no charge to enter the Botanic Gardens by bicycle. Once we get to the Gardens, there will be time for lunch or a snack and a walk around the grounds. Bring a bike lock and if you wish to purchase lunch or a snack, be sure to bring some cash. This will make the total mileage for the ride around 28 miles. Casual pace with no one left behind. This is a well marked paved trail and I will be leading from behind per usual. If I have to cancel, I will send an email by 7:00 a.m. but hope to see you for one or both parts of the ride! Lori Cell 847-602-0661
